The oven should not just stop working! The timing could not have been better. I had a house full of guests all of who were surprised that a durable good would stop working after 19 months.

I would not have purchased this if I new I had to invest more into it to keep a basic function working. Very disapointed. I am having the same issue along with a weird smell. Was this ever resolved and if so what did you have to do? I have the same model and mine just started doing this as well.

There is actually a lot to take in and remember and the most important things to remember are the symbols dotted around the oven.

These symbols are used to represent important functions but knowing which is which and what does what can be very difficult. This button activates the fan oven which helps distribute the heat more evenly around your oven. It will also help speed up the cooking time and decrease energy consumption. This symbol is easy to remember it is simply marked by two lines inside a square.

One line at the top of the square and one at the bottom, these lines represent the heating elements. If you excuse the pun-worthy name this symbol is also very easy to remember.

This can help you bake certain dishes like casseroles for example or get that much desired crispy base on things like pizza. This is one of the simpler symbols but it does have a lot of important functions. Take the symbol for bottom heating and add a zigzag line at the top and you have this symbol.

It does the same thing basically but adds an extra source of heating from the grill for when you need more even heating at the top and the bottom. This symbol includes the zigzag line for grill and the three-pronged plug-like shape for the fan. Simply marked with the now familiar zigzag line at the top of a box this symbol means the grill alone will do the cooking. The grill is one of the most versatile areas of your cooker and can practically cook any meal or food. Just ensure food is placed in the centre to ensure the most even and effective cooking, you can also use the grill to add some crisping or browning to dishes and it can even make toast as well.

This is probably going to be one of the most commonly used settings on your cooker so make sure you familiarise yourself with it.

It simply turns on the oven light so you can more easily inspect food and monitor its cooking progress. A more uncommon symbol that is marked with a snowflake above a raindrop.

Page Multistage Cooking 5. Set the microwave power level by pressing the Microwave button to select the appropriate Power Level W in the example.I purchased this range in November. I read a report or two about how easily it turns on. The huge knobs are great. But, let me set the stage for how I know a bad design job from a great one.

They manufactured all sorts of plastic products and, yes, buttons, too. Their knob was the brain child of a co-worker who was playing with poker chips and put one atop the other and tried to rotate the top one. The little groves kept him from doing it. He took the idea to my Dad who designed the machine to make injection molds for their Spin Free knob.

This simple knob kept kids from turning on a stove. They could spin the knob and nothing happened until Mom pushed in with a little force and turned it to the desired setting. My new Samsung is a flat glass surface. It's easily scratched so I purchased a black 'drying mat' just in case casseroles were placed on it in preperation of using the oven. I wanted to keep the surface new looking for as I could. Imagine my surprise when last week my teen granddaughter yelled something was on fire.

She had put together some Christmas treats. None required the use of the surface range. But, sure enough, the left rear burner was bright red. The black pad had melted and stuck to the stove. I was sick. I tried to recreate what happened and how it happened and it was very simple. I bumped the knobs on the left with my mid section and slid my body ever so slightly to the right.

Sure as the sun rises tomorrow, that left back burner became flaming red.

Airtable apps

It was on 'high'. These are the poorest designed knobs I have ever seen. The concept is good but the force needed to activate them is woefully lacking. I was able to let the remnants of the black drying mat cool and used a single edge razor blade to gently lift off the black gunk stuck to it.

Shame on Samsung for not checking the this out since there have been prior valid complaints. Go to Solution. Then put the knobs back on. It will require extra effort to push and turn the knobs BUT you won't accidentally turn on the burners!

We have had many issues with this - Samsung came out and said there is "nothing they can do because the oven is performing to specifications. It is happening with the induction ovens and the gas ovens. See if you can reference his post above. Hope this helps - it has certainly solved the problem for now - until they resdesign. Here are charts to help you to identify symbols on electrical schematics.

Oven Symbols: Oven light: On some ovens this comes on automatically when the oven is turned on. Other ovens have the light on a separate setting. By turning the knob onto this setting, we light the oven cavity. The oven remains alight while any of the functions are on.

Oven Defrost: This usually means that the oven fan is turned on, but no heat is being produced. Defrosting is carried out by simple movement of air to speed up defrosting times, but with no heat. Recommended for rapidly defrosting delicate frozen foods such as fish and poultry. Conventional Oven: If referring to the entire oven - this is the most basic and cheapest oven available.

Used as a function within an oven, heat is provided by the upper and lower heating elements of the oven, but no fan. The heat is diffused by natural convection. Recommended for foods which require the same cooking temperature both internally and externally e.

Roasts and Pastries. Fan Assisted Oven: The set function is for the upper and lower heating elements and the fan to be switched on. Heat from the top and bottom elements is diffused by the forced convection from the fan found normally at the rear.

The temperature throughout is even and the oven heats up very quickly, reducing cooking times and so saving energy. Fan Oven: The circular heating element surrounds the fan on the inner rear wall and they are both on. The heat is diffused by forced convection. A powerful fan draws air from the interior of the oven. It then heats up the air and forces it right back into the oven cavity through strategically placed shaped air ducts in the rear wall.

This system means the oven heats up rapidly, and needs little or no preheating. This is recommended for food that needs to be tender or rare on the inside and well done on the outside such as lamb, roast beef and whole fish. With the better quality fan ovens e.
